Treating Exercise-Related Estrogen Decline

Getting regular exercise is crucial for leading a healthy life. The CDC recommends that adults aim for at least 2.5 hours of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise, 1.25 hours of intense aerobic exercise, or a combination of the two in order to maintain wellness. Working every muscle group through isometric or weight-training exercise at least once a week is recommended as well.

Exercise is essential for optimal health and wellness, but too much exercise can actually cause harm. Excessive exercise may result in increased fatigue, sleep disruptions, mood changes, and night sweats, along with higher rates of injury to muscles, bones, and joints. Women who exercise excessively are also at risk for estrogen decline. This issue can result in many of the same symptoms as over-exertion, along with dry skin, breast tenderness, and memory and concentration problems. It may also result in sexual issues such as vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and diminished sex drive.

How much exercise is too much? This is different for every woman, but studies suggest those who exercise more than five hours a week are at higher risk. Women who fall into this category may benefit from talking to a nutritionist and personal trainer to help ensure they are meeting all of their body’s needs. However, even a proper diet and smart exercise choices cannot prevent estrogen decline in women who exercise several hours a week.

Pellet Therapy for Estrogen Decline

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) offers a safe and effective option for women experiencing lower levels of estrogen. There are several methods of BHRT delivery, including patches and pills, but the effectiveness of these methods of delivery is hit or miss. Pellet Therapy helps to improve outcomes by delivering a consistent stream of estrogen, though not all delivery systems are equally safe and effective.

The Re3® Advanced Pellet Delivery System from Pellecome has been designed to improve provider comfort and accuracy. For patients, our patented technology reduces the amount of anesthesia needed, helps prevent pellet bunching, and reduces infection risks, helping to ensure the best results with the least risks.

A leader in innovative BHRT technology, Pellecome is dedicated to helping providers streamline the delivery process and improve patient outcomes. If you would like information about adding our Re3 system to your practice, give us a call at 888-773-9969 to learn more.
