BHRT can be administered in several ways. Topical options such as gels and patches are common. So too are pills and shots commonly used to supply bio-identical hormones to patients dealing with the adverse consequences of perimenopause, menopause, and andropause.
A newer and compellingly effective option for BHRT is hormone pellets. Inserted through a tiny incision – typically in the gluteal region – hormone pellets slowly release bio-identical hormones over the course of several months, allowing for sustained patient results.
The number of pellets used is dependent on the individual, but up to six pellets can be placed during a single treatment. Pellets are inserted with a handheld device. In some cases, pellet delivery may be uneven or fail to push the pellets deep enough, allowing for bunching and overlapping.
